Accuracy
Data on this site is only as current as the upstream sources it was imported from. NOAA status paragraphs (population, fishing rate, habitat impact, bycatch) are refreshed when stock-assessment cycles publish — typically every 3–5 years per fishery. USDA SR Legacy is a frozen release and will not change.
Corrections
If you believe a value on this site disagrees with the upstream NOAA or USDA source at the time the source was last updated, contact us via the contact page with the species name and the field in dispute. Corrections that we verify are applied within five business days and logged on the affected species page.
Attribution
Every species page names its data sources in the sidebar and at the foot of each data block (NOAA Fisheries, USDA FoodData Central). Where an edit adds or removes material beyond what the source says, we mark it as editor commentary; the rest is sourced verbatim.
Review cadence
We re-review the site quarterly. The review pulls the current NOAA species list and flags any species that has moved on or off the “sustainable seafood” directory. Species removed from the directory have their page marked accordingly rather than deleted, so legacy links do not break.
